To Kill A Mocking Bird : An Overview
" To Kill A Mocking Bird" by Harper Lee is one of the most touching stories I have ever read. Reading it was a whole new experience for me. The book not only has an interesting plot to narrate but also imparts valuable lessons in life.
To Kill A Mocking Bird tells us about the life in America before there were equal rights for the coloured people. The story is told through the eyes of a little girl called Scout. She is the daughter of Maycomb County's most respected lawyer, Aticus Finch. One day, Aticus had to defend a black, who had been unjustly accused of raping a white lady. Complications arise further as the story progresses. For example, there is a legendary Boo Radley, a man that nobody had seen for years, due to a certain incident in the past. It had been told that he had turned into a vampire and stared at people through their windows. In reality towards the end of the story, he saved Scout and others from danger and was revealed as a kind and gentle human being.
Harper Lee presents the book in a very captivating style. After a while, it gets difficult to put down the book. She injects humour as well as the sad reality of the life of the people living in Maycomb County. It is definitely a book to be read by all.
