COOKING : A PASSION

Cooking....often describes as a woman's passion. Some women love cooking, some don't. As for me, i took it as a hobby. In Malay cultural, and i am a Malay, learning to cook is essential. Although, not a full time but still have the opportunity to learn some recipes. I love to cook savoury dish rather than bakery, pastries or desserts. I started to learn when i was 13 years of age. I'd still  remember, the very first dish that i learn is SAMBAL TUMIS IKAN BILIS or Fried Anchovies with Chilli Gravy. Not bad for a newbie like me at that time in 1991.

After learning the simple yet delicious recipe, i moved on to the next. Recipes like FISH HEAD CURRY, CHICKEN CURRY, CHICKEN IN COCONUT MILK, BEEF RENDANG, BERIANI RICE DISH, STEAMED FISH WITH GINGER, STEAMED FISH WITH CALAMANSI and others are a must-try.

As a Malaysian and lived in a multi racial country, we can learn other types of recipes from Chinese, Indian, Punjabi, Malay-Thai, The Peranakan,  such as Hainan Chicken Rice, Dumplings, Chicken Tandoori and Dhal Gravy. The ingredients are easy to find in the supermarkets or groceries shop; depends on what kind of recipes you want to cook. Simple ingredients are shrimp paste, curry powder, tumeric, star-anise, coconut milk and poultry can be found in the local groceries shop.

As the saying goes, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Well, as for me, you can have plenty of food but in the meantime, you must choose wisely the amount of food that you want to eat. The carbs, proteins and fat....not too much please! i chose not to eat much because i need to control my weight as i am looking for my best BODY MASS INDEX.

Nowadays, cooking are monopolied by men. Not to say that i don't see any women chefs, but most of it are Men. In hotels and resorts, we may see men chefs rather than women. So...for those women out there...LEARN TO COOK! Beat the guys!
